Wintergreen Boxwood - Includes Planting Kit (1 Gallon)

The Wintergreen Boxwood (Buxus sinica var. insularis 'Wintergreen') is a popular, cold-hardy evergreen shrub known for its versatility in the landscape. With its dense, rich green foliage and slow growth habit, this low-maintenance shrub can be shaped into a variety of forms, from hedges to topiaries. In this article, we will discuss the overall characteristics of the Wintergreen Boxwood and its attractive foliage. The Wintergreen Boxwood is a compact shrub, typically reaching heights of 2 to 4 feet and a similar spread. It is native to Asia but has gained popularity in North America for its adaptability and hardiness. The shrub is suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4 to 9, tolerating temperatures as low as -30°F (-34°C). This cold-hardy variety makes it a popular choice for landscapes in colder climates where other boxwood varieties may struggle. The Wintergreen Boxwood is also known for its resistance to pests and diseases, contributing to its low-maintenance appeal. One of the standout features of the Wintergreen Boxwood is its attractive, evergreen foliage. The small, oval-shaped leaves are a glossy, dark green color, providing year-round color and interest in the landscape. The dense foliage makes it an excellent choice for creating privacy screens, hedges, or topiaries, as it can be easily shaped and pruned to the desired form. In the winter months, the foliage may develop a slight bronze tint, adding a touch of seasonal interest to the plant.
