University of Kentucky "Wildcat" College Stone Mascot

There are a lot of sports teams with the Wildcat nickname, but the University of Kentucky's mascot stands out, especially for those in the Big Blue Nation. Our mascot is a vivid representation of the Kentucky logo, complete with the menacing bobcat that is the UK Wildcat. The nickname became synonymous with the university in 1909 following a 6-2 football win over the University of Illinois. The head of the university military department told a group of students that the Kentucky team "fought like Wildcats". That characterization became popular and is now a part of UK athletics lore. This 'Cat is made of premium cast stone and hand-painted with Kentucky-blue UK letters in the foreground. Any Wildcat fan would be proud to have this striking representation in his or her home, welcoming visitors on the front step or in that special place with the rest of their Kentucky memorabilia.
