Spliced: The Initiative

Spliced is a science fiction-fantasy-horror universe set on an alien invaded Earth in the year 2314. The aliens known as the Dirge crashed into our planet 200 years ago with every intent on taking over our world. They were smart adaptable and aggressive, and we were unprepared. The Dirge saw humans as the workforce and our world as fertile and ripe for a takeover. They tried to make our planet more suitable for them by terraforming earth, it caused drastic changes to our atmosphere and gravity. We lost the capabilities of air travel and space flight in the process, essentially cutting earth off from the rest of the galaxy.However, humans managed to stop the terraforming before the process was completed but not before our world was forever changed. And, in the time since life on earth has had to evolve adjust and to survive. The majority of remaining life had managed to adjust on their own with some species of plants and animals even being immune to the effects of the alien's presence. Humans though needed some help to match the changes happening around us.Our best and brightest scientists, with the help of artificial intelligence, devised a way to give humans an advantage in the fight. They called the process Splicing. The procedure of splicing compatible animal DNA with human DNA, thus giving us the people we refer to as Spliced. The first Spliced gave us the ability to fight back more effectively. With our technology and firepower not being enough, the Spliced put humans back into the fight.Fight we did. We fought until an invasion that turned into a war became a war that turned into an alien occupation. Now, centuries later we struggle to cohabitate the planet. We have many new variations of humans inhabiting earth along with a divided alien race, both vying for dominance over the planet. We have had to adjust many facets of human life, like living in domed super-cities or underground settlements. We are far more congested in our habitats but spread out across broken and bewildered wildernesses. Our resources and people safe behind barriers and walls from the encroaching planet and alien threats.With our limited government, law and order is usually maintained by local security forces, while Lancers, individuals that take on missions and contracts for human safety have become the rockstars of world. They protect the people and carry out harrowing missions in the name of reclaiming the world. The earth is broken. Mankind is scattered but surviving in a new age filled with cybernetics and androids, aliens, evil humans, mutants, and mythological monsters. This is the world of Spliced. Read more
