Rotala wallichii is a favorite among aquascapers who want to add soft movement, and color to planted aquariums. Its fine, feathery foliage contrasts beautifully against broader-leaf stem plants and hardscape, making it especially useful for adding variable texture and breaking up heavier areas of a layout.
When grown in groups, Rotala wallichii develops into vibrant clusters of pink, orange, red, and magenta hues. It is commonly used as a background aquatic plant in nature-style and Dutch-style aquascapes where color and texture are important.
This species is more demanding than many common stem plants and grows best with strong lighting, CO2 injection, and regular fertilization. With proper care, Rotala wallichii is a treat for the eyes and a solid addition to any colorful planted aquarium.
