This concise textbook describes enough basic and advanced information for the study of plant genetics and breeding for under-graduate students, and graduate students not majoring in these scientific areas.This book is an English translation of the 3rd edition of Plant Genetics and Breeding. From the 2nd edition onwards, genome sequencing, gene isolation, and marker selection using those techniques have progressed further, and genetic modification technology through genome editing has become available for breeding. Breeding has become one of the major disciplines that integrate the results of these technologies, and its importance is increasing. On the other hand, changes in media such as internet distribution and electronic publishing are remarkable. In light of this social situation, preparations were made to provide the textbook with Japanese-English slides for charts and an English translation of the text (this book).This book can be used alone for classes and readers in English or with the Japanese version of this book in the universities where teachers are required to teach in English for foreign students with a Japanese textbook.
