- LOW MAINTENANCE TURF: Centipede grass, often called Lazy Man's Grass, is a slow-growing, apple-green, coarse-leaved turf grass ideal for low-maintenance southern lawns. It requires little fertilizer, infrequent mowing, and minimal care, making it perfect for busy homeowners, landscapers, groundskeepers, property managers, and turf care professionals.
- DROUGHT & SHADE TOLERANT: This grass is exceptionally drought-tolerant and shade-tolerant, maintaining its lush appearance with less frequent watering and needing at least four hours of full sun daily. Great for warm-season seeding, new lawn installation, overseeding thin areas, lawn renovation, and southern turf repair projects.
- ADAPTS TO ACIDIC SOILS: Centipede grass seeds perform best in sandy, acidic soils with a pH range of 5.0 to 6.5. Use on prepared soil, new turf areas, bare lawn spots, southern lawns, sandy soils, and acidic low-fertility sites to create a dense, green lawn with minimal maintenance.
- EASY CONTROL & WINTER HARDY: Despite its spreading growth habit, centipede grass is easily controlled and usually requires edging only once a year. It withstands mild cold temperatures, turning brown with light freezes but recovering quickly, making it a resilient choice for southern lawns, parks, sports fields, and low-maintenance landscapes.
- EFFICIENT SEEDING: Sow centipede grass seed at 1/2 - 1 pound per 1,000 square feet or 20 - 40 lbs/acre for broadcast seeding. Apply with a seed spreader, prepared acidic soil, light watering, and routine mowing at 1.5 to 2 inches for best results. Centipede grass spreads by stolons to create dense, resilient turf with less mowing, less fertilizer, and less frequent watering.
