What is African Sandalwood?

African sandalwood is sought after for its robust characteristics, due to the tree's dense and heavy heartwood. This wood has a fine texture which allows carvers to create intricate designs with precision and ease. Its durability lends itself well to creating pieces that will last for generations.

Not only is it renowned for its striking reddish-brown hue and distinct grain patterns, but the wood from this tree is also extremely easy to work with. Its straight or slightly interlocked grain permits seamless artistry both by hand tools as well as machinery, resulting in captivating creations that are sure to please the eye.

In addition, African sandalwood is packed with natural oils that give off a pleasant smell and make it extremely durable to rot and insect damage. This makes it an ideal timber for crafting items that are meant to last for years or be displayed prominently.

Overall, the combination of its durability, texture, and visual appeal make African sandalwood a prized material for carvers and craftsmen alike.
