The M43 self-propelled 105/25 "Bassotto" was developed by Italian industry to increase the offensive capacity of the armoured vehicles and self-propelled vehicles of the Royal Army. The M43 was set on the modified, enlarged and lowered hull of the M15/42 tank and adopted an Ansaldo 105/25 howitzer installed in casamatta. It was also improved in the protection and front shield. He entered service, in a limited number of copies, in 1943 and participated in operations on the Italian front. It can be considered the most powerful Italian armored vehicle used during the Second World War effective both in offensive and defensive actions thanks to a good "mix" of mobility and armament. After the armistice of Italy, several specimens were captured and successfully used by German troops, renaming the "Dachshund" with the abbreviation "StuG M43 mit 105/25".
