Henry Chapman Mercer was an archaeologist, tool collector, tile-maker, and designer of three distinctive buildings made of poured concrete. He built a museum to house his artifacts and tiles, the Mercer Museum, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania in 1916. He also moved and preserved an original 19th century log cabin to the museum property. Henry’s constant companion was his Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Rollo.
