Among the reasons to install brakes on your favorite touring skis? You're standing atop that ridgeline and you set your ski down to click in, only to watch your ski disappear down the couloir. Brakes would have helped! You bring your favorite touring skis to the resort, but every time you load the gondola, you have to unclip your leashes. Brakes would have helped! You're skiing in the backcountry safely without leashes but a freak piece of avalanche debris knocks your ski off and you watch it careen into the apron and leave you with a 1000' single-ski descent. Brakes would have helped!
For those and a myriad other reasons, why wouldn't you want to have the piece of mind that a mere 40g brings? Safer for you, safer for the skiers below you, and far less chance that you're skiing that no-fall zone on one ski!
The Black Diamond Xenic brakes come in three widths: 85mm, 95mm, and 105mm.
