2024 Volkl Racetiger GSL R JR Skis W/ Plate

For budding and aspiring junior racers, the Volkl Racetiger GSL R Jr skis are a top option. While these skis excel in shorter turns and more slalom-like formats, they can also be used as a combi ski for those who are looking to join the ranks.

Why we like it:

Volkl has long been synonymous with excellence in the race world, and that technology filters into the junior skis as well. We like the addition of the race plate to add leverage and find that the quality and precision are, as usual, top notch.

Who it's for:

Youth racers or fans of frontside carving who are looking to enter the competitive world of ski racing. You have aspirations of the podium in local races and want to take your slalom racing to the next level.

Highlights:

Volkl’s precision and quality are highlighted here, as is the use of a multi-layer wood core consisting of beech and poplar. This makes the GSL R Jr skis a very sturdy set of skis with a lot of pop and energy. When paired with an appropriately short turn radius, the slalom nature of the ski starts to separate itself from the competition.

Things to consider:

While these skis excel in the racecourse and on firmer snow, if you’re looking for all-mountain versatility, there will be challenges. On firm snow, though, they are amazing. For bumps and trees, something with more rocker will be more fun for your young skier. If you’re in a race program, it’s best to consult a coach for proper sizing information.
